Sound expert, Orbital, has added PICKUP audio guides to its range of systems solutions for the museum and heritage industries.
An interactive point and click system from Dataton, PICKUP is simple to operate and install, with users merely pointing the unit at an exhibit’s Hotspot Transponder, clicking and then listening to the related stereo commentary through its headphones.
The system can also be used as a sequential audio tour without the use of hotspots.
New to the UK, PICKUP is already installed in venues such as The Diamond Museum in Antwerp and the Nordiska Museet and Museum of National Antiquities, both in Stockholm.
A further benefit – ahead of the DDA legislation scheduled to come into force later this year – is the system’s easy ‘point and click’ principle which allows easy access for visually impaired visitors.
